शनिवार की रात लातेहार जिले के चंदवा थाना क्षेत्र अंतर्गत तोरीसोत गांव के पास नक्सलियों ने भारी उत्पात मचाया। खनिज सर्वे कर रही कंपनी सीएमपीडीआई (CMPDI) के साइट पर धावा बोलते हुए नक्सलियों ने दो ड्रिलिंग मशीन समेत कुल आठ गाड़ियों को आग के हवाले कर दिया। इस दौरान नक्सलियों द्वारा गोलीबारी की भी खबर है, जिससे इलाके में दहशत का माहौल बन गया है।
जानकारी के मुताबिक, यह क्षेत्र चकला पंचायत के अंतर्गत आता है, जहां सीएमपीडीआई कंपनी कोयले का खनिज सर्वेक्षण कर रही थी। शनिवार देर रात लगभग एक दर्जन से अधिक हथियारबंद नक्सली साइट पर पहुंचे। पहले उन्होंने फायरिंग कर दहशत फैलायी और फिर वहां खड़ी दो ड्रिलिंग मशीन, दो कार, दो पिकअप वैन तथा दो ट्रकों में आग लगा दी। नक्सली करीब एक घंटे तक साइट पर मौजूद रहे और उत्पात मचाने के बाद वहां से फरार हो गए।
घटना की सूचना मिलते ही लातेहार एसपी कुमार गौरव के निर्देश पर बालूमाथ डीएसपी विनोद रवानी के नेतृत्व में पुलिस की टीम मौके पर पहुंची और पूरे इलाके को सील कर दिया गया। टीम ने छानबीन के साथ ही सर्च अभियान भी शुरू कर दिया है। हालांकि इस हमले में किसी के हताहत होने की खबर नहीं है, लेकिन सभी वाहन पूरी तरह जलकर खाक हो गए।
डीएसपी विनोद रवानी ने कहा, “घटना के संबंध में मैं इतना कहना चाहूंगा कि मामले की जांच हो रही है। पुलिस घटना स्थल पर पहुंचकर सर्च अभियान चला रही है।”
फिलहाल पुलिस इस बात की जांच कर रही है कि इस घटना को अंजाम देने के पीछे किस नक्सली संगठन का हाथ है। हालांकि, स्थानीय लोगों का कहना है कि इस हमले की शैली से प्रतीत होता है कि इसके पीछे माओवादी संगठन हो सकता है।
यह इलाका लातेहार, चतरा और रांची के बॉर्डर पर स्थित है और सुदूर तथा पहाड़ी क्षेत्र होने की वजह से नक्सलियों के लिए यहां छिपना और हमले करना आसान हो जाता है। हालांकि पिछले कुछ समय से यह क्षेत्र शांत था, लेकिन इस हमले ने एक बार फिर नक्सलियों की सक्रियता को उजागर कर दिया है।

On Saturday night, Naxals unleashed a wave of violence in the Torisot village area under Chandwa police station limits in Latehar district. Heavily armed Naxals attacked the site of mineral survey company CMPDI and set fire to eight vehicles, including two drilling machines. Reports also suggest that the Naxals fired several rounds during the attack, creating panic in the area.
According to available information, CMPDI was conducting a coal survey near Chakla Panchayat, where the attack occurred. Late Saturday night, more than a dozen armed Naxals arrived at the site, opened fire to spread fear, and then torched two drilling machines, two cars, two pickup vans, and two trucks. The attackers remained at the scene for nearly an hour before fleeing into the nearby forested area.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav immediately dispatched a police team led by Balumath DSP Vinod Ravani. The team reached the site and launched an investigation. The entire area has now been sealed, and a search operation is underway. Although no casualties have been reported, all the vehicles were completely destroyed by the fire.
Commenting on the incident, DSP Vinod Ravani said, “An investigation is ongoing. Police have reached the site and are conducting a search operation.”
As of now, authorities have not officially confirmed which group was responsible for the attack, but local residents suspect the involvement of Maoist insurgents based on the method and scale of the violence.
The site is located in a remote and forested tri-junction region bordering Latehar, Chatra, and Ranchi districts, which has historically been a hotspot for Naxal activities. Though the region had been peaceful in recent months, this incident has once again highlighted the resurgence of extremist presence.
This attack has raised serious concerns about the safety of development and mineral exploration projects in Naxal-affected areas. The administration is now tightening security measures and preparing for more robust action against such militant groups.
